Biography


Andrew Kramer joined Hansen Reynolds LLC in 2013. Mr. Kramer has previously served as an Assistant Attorney General with the Wisconsin Department of Justice where he prosecuted white collar criminal offenses and handled criminal appeals, and as an Assistant State’s Attorney in the Chicago suburbs, where he tried 60 jury trials and hundreds of bench trials to verdict. He started his legal career as Assistant Counsel to the Speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives, where he was legal counsel to the House Judiciary Committees. Mr. Kramer’s current practice focuses on complex business disputes, appellate advocacy, and helping clients negotiate government investigations and regulatory enforcement.

Experience


Lead Appellate Counsel defending a substantial judgment for breach of fiduciary duties. Successfully argued before the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Prevailed in both the Wisconsin Court of Appeals and Wisconsin Supreme Court. Smith v. Kleynerman, 2017 WI 22, 374 Wis. 2d 1, 892 N.W. 2d 734.

Lead Counsel in federal administrative proceeding brought against Bank President and CEO by Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). Mr. Kramer and his team prepared the case for hearing before the Administrative Law Judge. The case settled on the eve of trial on terms favorable to his client.

Mr. Kramer successfully Defended Wisconsin-based Manufacturing Company in Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions Securities Division investigation.

Counsel for MLB star Ryan Braun defending claims of defamation, breach of contract and fraud; Mr. Kramer participated in briefing and arguing motions in the Circuit Court, and was a member of the appellate team which obtained a decision affirming the complete dismissal of the claims against his client, and drafted the brief in opposition to the petition for review by the Wisconsin Supreme Court, which was denied. Ralph Sasson v. Ryan Braun et al., Milwaukee County Circuit Court Case No. 2013-CV-7014, on appeal at 2015 AP 58.

Obtained dismissal of complaint for breach of contract, unjust enrichment, and promissory estoppel claims. G2 Equities v. Reco Cement Products, LLC (N.D. Ill. 2015).

As a prosecutor, Mr. Kramer took 60 jury trials to verdict, conducted hundreds of bench trials, and argued hundreds of probable cause motions. As a felony narcotics prosecutor he served in both the Narcotics and Gang Units in the State’s Attorney’s Office and worked with state and federal law enforcement officials to investigate and prosecute gang and drug-related violent crimes. At trial, he successfully obtained justice for a victim whose face was slashed with a razor blade, by securing a guilty jury verdict on a charge of aggravated battery causing permanent disfigurement. In addition, he obtained justice for the family of a man killed by a drunk driver by securing a guilty verdict for the offense of aggravated driving under the influence causing death.
