Andrew Jones represents companies, governmental entities, and individuals in a broad range of constitutional, commercial, compliance, employment, and land use litigation matters, including class action proceedings. Over his twenty-five years in practice, he has represented clients at trial and on appeal at all levels of the state and federal court systems, including the Wisconsin Court of Appeals and Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court. Jones has substantial experience in both the public and private sectors, as he began his legal career as an assistant city attorney for the City of New York, and he was a partner and board member at two national law firms. Most recently, he served as a judge on the Milwaukee County Circuit Court.
Defended public entities, including counties, other municipalities, and school districts throughout Wisconsin and the City of New York, both at trial and on appeal in constitutional litigation, including First Amendment claims involving freedom of religion and speech; claims of false arrest, malicious prosecution, excessive force, failure to protect, cruel and unusual punishment, and denial of due process in the law enforcement context; civil rights claims brought by students and employees against public school districts; claims involving zoning and other land use disputes; and claims under the federal Voting Rights Act.
Represented businesses in a range of commercial disputes, including breach of contract, breach of warranty, misrepresentation, covenant not to compete, and land use claims.
Defended healthcare providers in false claims, whistleblower, and other compliance litigation, including in matters prosecuted by the United States Department of Justice.
Represented public and private employers in a range of actions arising under federal and state employment discrimination statutes, including Title VII, the Americans With Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and the Wisconsin Fair Employment Act, and defended employers in administrative proceedings before the Wisconsin Equal Rights Division and in labor arbitrations.
Served as a circuit judge for the Milwaukee County Circuit Court, presiding over a 700+ case criminal docket, including jury and bench trials, contested suppression hearings, and all pre-trial proceedings.
Serves on the boards of directors of the Milwaukee Bar Association Foundation and Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin. Previously served on the boards of directors of two national law firms.
