Biography


​Toby Reynolds is one of the founding members of Hansen Reynolds LLC and serves as the Managing Partner of the Firm. Prior to founding the Firm, Mr. Reynolds was a partner at Michael Best & Friedrich. He started his career as a patent litigation associate at Barnes & Thornburg in Indianapolis. Mr. Reynolds concentrates his practice on patent litigation. He combines his legal training and engineering background to serve Fortune 500 companies in all areas of industry, including industrial machinery, electronic systems and biomechanical devices.

Experience


Quality Healthcare Intermediary, LLC v. CoreSource Inc. (N.D. Ill.) (Defense of patent infringement of a business method patent. Initiated parallel proceeding before the PTAB to challenge validity of the asserted patent as a Covered Business Method patent).

Sonic Foundry, Inc. v. Astute Technology, LLC (W.D. Wis.) (Lead counsel for defendant in patent infringement lawsuit. Won complete dismissal of lawsuit).

Draper, Inc. v. Da-Lite Screen Company and Stewart Filmscreen Company (S.D. Ind.) (Mr. Reynolds served as lead counsel for Draper in a multi-million dollar patent infringement lawsuit involving several patents relating to projection screen technology. Draper won a complete Markman hearing victory resulting in a successful settlement).

Primex Inc., et al. v. Visiplex Technologies Inc., et al. (E.D. Wis.) (Mr. Reynolds served as lead counsel for Primex in patent infringement case involving wireless synchronized timing systems. Resulted in settlement where Visiplex paid Primex for past infringement and took an ongoing license that pays Primex a royalty for the life of the patents-in-suit).

E-Z-GO, a division of Textron Inc., et al. v. Club Car, Inc. (S.D. Ga.) (Mr. Reynolds successfully represented defendant, an Ingersoll Rand Company subsidiary, in invalidating E-Z-GO’s asserted patent claims, resulting in dismissal of case. Patent-in-suit involved control systems for golf carts).

Adenta GmbH and American Orthodontics v. Orthoarm Inc. (Fed. Cir.) (Mr. Reynolds served as lead counsel in a patent validity jury trial and Federal Circuit appeal involving orthodontic brackets).

Briggs & Stratton Corp. v. Kohler Co., (W.D. Wis.) (Mr. Reynolds represented plaintiff through jury trial in successful patent infringement action involving small engine technology).

Dr. Kazerooni v. Ingersoll Rand Co. (E.D. Mich.) (Mr. Reynolds acted as lead counsel in successful defense of patent lawsuit involving power assist devices).

DR Systems, Inc. v. Merge Technologies, Inc. (S.D. Cal.) (Mr. Reynolds represented defendant in patent infringement suit involving manipulation of medical imaging data).

Hampshire Paper Corp. v. Syndicate Sales Inc. (D. NH.) (Mr. Reynolds served as patent counsel for Indiana floral products company).
